Good Afternoon!
We had a busy week-and a full week at that! Those have been hard to come by these days!
We celebrated Eden's Birthday:
Drew's 1/2 Birthday:
and Cole's 1/2 Birthday:
We also welcomed our new friend Riley to our class!!!
We had our closing ceremonies for the Olympics:
We learned a new sight word: are. If we used this word correctly (there is a difference between our and are) and we spelled it right, we were able to wear Star of Are glasses!
We observed different types of seeds and recorded our findings in our science notebooks:
We measured items around our room using cutouts of our own feet:
We worked hard during choice time each day to make the longest train of blocks. Today we succeeded!!!
Have a great weekend! Remember, wear a hat to school on Monday!

Mrs. Huettl

100th Day!!!
We made it! We finally were able to enjoy our 100th day of school without Mother Nature getting in the way! (Although it was a close one!)
We started our morning by changing everything on our calendar over to the number 100, which was an exciting task.
Then, low and behold, Zero the Hero arrived in person!!! We sang songs together and he left us with a Tootsie Roll treat!
We had a special 100th day snack. There were 10 different ingredients and each student put ten pieces of each ingredient on their snack mat. That meant 100 pieces of snack! Yum-o! Than you for the donations.
We had four 100th day stations that we worked at throughout the day today. We had to try to find the numbered gumballs in order:
We played a dice game called Roll to 100:
We made 100th day hats with 100 stickers!
We worked as a team to put together a 100 piece puzzle. I think this was my favorite, because it was so cool to hear the interactions between the kiddos as they searched for certain pieces and worked together to complete the puzzle. It took all four rotations, effort from all, but that puzzle finally was finished!!!
We also had a Zero the Hero art project that we will be hanging up in our hallway for the next week.
It was a fantastic 100th day of school! I wish we had 100 more together!

Mrs. Huettl

In the Snow We Go!
Good Afternoon!
As the early spring (extra early spring) sun came shining through our windows this morning, I knew we just HAD to take advantage of this brief warm-up in weather! We ventured outdoors to observe our kindergarten tree in the winter season. We started our walk outside, and you could feel the warmth of the sun! It was great!
Then...we got to the back field and WOW! The snow was DEEP! It was about waist high on many of our kindergarten friends and quite the workout!
Nevertheless, we made it to our kindergarten tree and did a quick sketch of our kindergarten tree. We noticed that the "Sale" tag was still attached, but the leaves were no longer holding strong.
This afternoon we continued our work on counting by 2's and familiarized ourselves with the 100s chart. We will be working with number 100 a lot this week as we celebrate our 100th day of school on Thursday!
Check out our 100th Day Museum-entries for the museum are due tomorrow!
Have a great evening!

Valentine's Day!
Good Afternoon
What a fantastic day! This was definitely a day full of memories! We did several math activities today including, graphing candy hearts, creating subtraction number stories, and making paper chain patterns!
Everyone was super excited to open up their valentines! It was so awesome to hear the "thank you's" and "your welcome's" being sent across the classroom. What an enjoyable time!!!
Have a wonderful weekend. Remember, no school Monday, but there is school Tuesday due to the change in the school calendar.

Where is the Paper?
Good Evening,
Today we practiced our new poem "Five Fast Fishes." You should see how fast these kindergarteners can sing this song and do the actions! My arms were exhausted! After searching for the letter F,f, we met with a partner to read some old favorites.
We also talked about making new sounds by putting two letters together (ch-, sh-, wh-, and th-). We focused on the sh- sound today and talked about how it's the same sound we might use when we want someone to quiet down.
To implement more movement, we have been trying out some of the Just Dance videos that are posted on Mrs. Westman's webpage. We clean up and transition SUPER fast so that we don't miss the opportunity to dance!
We started our paper unit for science today. We went on a paper hunt around the classroom, and we found it...everywhere!
This afternoon we worked on patterns in math. We created patterns, using not just colors, but numbers, objects, and even a pattern of patterns!!!
See you on Valentine's Day!
