Meet and Greet

This evening was a fantastic start to our year together!  It was so great to see most of my kindergarten friends and their families this evening.  We accomplished many things:

We found different parts of the classroom:

We delivered our school supplies:

We met new friends:

We even had some time to play!

The best thing was that we were able to make this classroom a little more familiar, take some ownership, all with the comfort of our families close by!

Tuesday will be here before you know it!  This year is very different for me, because I too will be sending my child off to school.  It puts a whole new perspective on things: the paperwork to be filled out, the checks to be written, choosing the outfit that will coordinate with the background color on school pictures, the preparation seems endless.  Please take time over the next few days to just enjoy your weekend with your family.  Have fun, enjoy the weather, and be in each other's company.

Here is a poem that I have sent to parents in the past.  The only difference is this year, I needed to grab a Kleenex as well!  (Good thing you all brought so many boxes!)

I gave you a little wink and smile
as you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
and know your child must stay.

You’ve been with him for five years now
and have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
to leave him at my side.

Just know that as you drive away
and tears down your cheeks may flow
I’ll love him as I would my own
and help him learn and grow.

So please put your mind at ease
and cry those tears no more
For I will love him and take him in
when you leave him at my door.

I am really looking forward to this school year.  I can not wait for all the exciting changes we will go through together and the memories we will make.  Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns prior to Tuesday.  I can answer e-mails from my phone this weekend if necessary.
Be sure to check back to the Huettl's Hive Blog on Tuesday for an update on our first day of kindergarten!!!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
