Today we did a fantastic job building our reading stamina. We are consistently reading for 10-12 minutes at a time. Mrs. Huettl will start meeting with students individually this week, and then next week we will practice our guided reading groups!
We built the words I and am today. We had an interesting discussion about whether am can come first in a sentence or not. Ask your kindergartener about this! :)
We introduced some new amazing words:
Then read a story, Fix-It Duck. Ask your child about the problem duck has in this story.
This afternoon Amelia's mom, Mrs. Board came in for Art Adventure. Over the next several weeks, we will be looking at different pieces of art work from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. After viewing and discussing the pieces in our classroom, we will get to go on a field trip to see the actual pieces at the museum!!! The Art Adventure theme is Dressed for the Occasion. Amelia's mom dressed as a pirate and we talked about type of occasion she could be dressed for!
