Good Afternoon!
We started out our morning with the first Somerset Family Breakfast. Students are invited to breakfasts based on last name. Each family will have the opportunity to attend a family breakfast at some point during the school year. Today, families with last names A-F came to school early! I was so busy running around to all the different families! We have a lot of friends with last names at the beginning of the alphabet! Here are a couple pictures I took:
We continue to build stamina with our reading. The kiddos look forward to this time and it makes me smile when I say, "OK, it's time to build our reading stamina," and kids shout out "Yes!!!" Being excited about reading is what it's all about!
We met with our 2nd grade buddies today and wrapped up our Rainbow Fish art project we started a couple weeks ago. All kindergarteners should have their completed Rainbow Fish in their BEE folder today.
We also finished up our pattern stations in math.
In science we reviewed what a tree needs to survive and we wrote about it in our science notebooks.
This afternoon we worked hard in our journals, planning our our stories and writing the sounds we hear in the words. We were so lucky to have Mr. Chandler here today to help us with our adult writing!
Monday will be an exciting day as our new friend Rachel joins our class! Remember this weekend to read, read, read and turn in those yellow reading slips on Monday!
Have a wonderful (although wet) weekend!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
