Rainy Outside, Sunny Inside

Hello!

Today may have been rainy outside, but inside we were full of sunshine!  I have to tell you how proud I am of all these kindergarten kiddos.  We will have a new friend start kindergarten with us on Monday.  Today, this friend came in to visit the school and everyone was so kind and welcoming!  This new friend even got a high-five!  I know we will all work to help her feel right at home with our Somerset Family!

We continued our work on building stamina with read to self, word work, and listen to reading.  We are consistently getting to ten minutes, which is great!   We will begin our small group instruction after the EM (formally MEA) break in a couple weeks!

We had SMART time today and changed up a couple of things.  Ask your child how to remember b's and d's.  We worked on this at SMART time.  Beyond the large motor part of SMART time we are also working on our fine motor and visual skills.  We used our hands to work on puzzles and trace different line formations.  We also traced a pizza with our finger, first with both eyes, then with one eye covered!

This afternoon we worked on planning out our stories in our journals.  We are ready to start our kid writing!  If anyone is interested in volunteering to help during our journal time, please send me an e-mail!

Have a great evening!

Love,
Mrs. Huettl
