Good Afternoon,
Today was another exciting day in kindergarten! We pulled a name out of the "magic hat" this morning, and our first calendar helper was Alec! The role of the calendar helper is to manipulate the various pages of our interactive calendar, choose songs to sing, and help lead us in singing our ABC's forwards and backwards! Alec did a great job today!
As the person of the day, Alec was also interviewed by Mrs. Huettl. All student interviews will be typed up and hung in our classroom so we can get to know our friends better. We also played some name games such as, Hickety Pickety Bumblebee with Alec's name.
For snack time in our classroom we wait until all friends have been served before we eat. We made designs and even letters with our goldfish while we were waiting.
This morning we had guided discovery with our crayons. Guided discovery is a focused and purposeful technique used to introduce materials, areas, or activities in the classroom. During a guided discovery we introduce the material, generate ideas for its use and model, give students time to explore, time to share explorations, and finally, go over cleanup and care of the materials. We got right to work! Check your child's B.E.E. Book to see their crayon drawing.
We had two opportunities for choice time today, opening the kitchen and block areas. I am so impressed with how well everyone is getting along, playing together, and being understanding when they are not able to get their first choice of play area due to number restrictions. Everyone is excited to see what areas will open next!
In addition to all of our work in our classroom, we also ventured to gym, music, and art class today! This kept us out of the room for most of the afternoon! It was fun to experience these classes for the first time!
Have a wonderful evening!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
