Another great day over here in kindergarten! The day goes by so quickly. We are cruising right along!
This morning we started by finishing our letter I,i handwriting sheet. We practiced the lowercase letter i today, which we determined was a turtle letter holding a balloon. We had to make sure our dots on our i's were not too little or too big!
Liam was our helper from the "magic hat" today. One of the calendar tasks is to being over a cube each day. This page of our calendar is an introduction to base-10 blocks, which will be a part of your child's math curriculum from first grade on. As we get further into the school year, this page serves as a great introduction to place value.
Another part of Liam's job to choose an alphabet song for us to sing. He chose the ABC Disco!
Our Mystery Letter today was the letter T,t!!! We decorated our letters with triangles and toothpicks. we introduced glue bottles as a part of this activity. I am proud to say, we had lots of raindrops and no puddles with our glue today! Yay! Ask your child to show you what gesture we make for the letter T,t sound. Clue: "get out your tiger claws."
In the next couple of weeks we will begin our SMART time. This is an academic movement time in our classroom. Today we reviewed the SMART warm up and learned how to be popcorn (a good ab workout!). Then we cooled down with some deep belly breathing.
Our math lesson today was focused around introducing the pattern blocks. Everyone had time to make and create.
Then students were given a sheet to color. They had to find the shape in their bucket and color the matching shape the same color as the block. They did a fantastic job!
Wednesday afternoons are very busy. We go to gym, music, and art classes-which leaves us limited time in our classroom. We did have time for choice time though and today we opened up the sand table!
A teacher's dream to see this at choice time :)
Have a wonderful evening! Bring your smiles for picture day tomorrow!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
