Good Evening,
A late night post for you:)
Today our Mystery Letter was the letter I,i. We decorated our upper and lowercase letters with ice cream and igloos!
Yesterday, our handwriting for the letter L,l seemed to be a lot to handle, so today, we just worked on the uppercase letter I. We did a great job! Mrs. Huettl came around with a magic eraser to erase any mistakes :)
We had our first official math lesson today! It was a game called partner match. By the end of our lesson, all student could proclaim, "I can compare objects!" Students were each given a strip of paper and they had to walk around the room and find the friend that had a strip of paper the same length. Once you found your partner, you sat down together. We had a discussion about what made this activity tricky. One friend said, "I couldn't find my person right away! I had to keep looking and looking..." I explained that there will be several times this year when the answer may be hard to find, but if you keep looking and work hard and don't give up...you'll get it-just like you eventually found your partner!!!
After our activity we completed an exit slip. An exit slip is a quick check to see that friends understood the concept for the day. Since today's objective was to compare objects, students cut apart pictures and had to glue them next to the matching picture-essentially comparing objects:)
During Choice time this afternoon we opened up the doll house.
Many of our activities have multiple steps. To help our friends remember the order and directions, we put up these pictures. This also helps my voice from having to repeat the directions over and over.
This evening was our kindergarten picnic. We had a great turn out! Thanks to all that were able to make it! I know it's a busy time of year. Here are a few pictures from the evening:
See you soon!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
