Good Afternoon-
Today we officially started our SMART time! SMART stands for Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training. This research-based program is designed to boost pre-reading skills and develop both large and small motor skills. The carpet side of our room is set up like an obstacle course. Students crawl across a "creep track" identifying uppercase letters:
Then they bounce (not jump) on the trampoline while pointing to and identifying lowercase letters:
Students then travel across the balance beam:
We do lots of spinning and rolling during SMART time :)
On the wood floor side of our classroom we work on our fine motor skills. Today friends had time to draw using whiteboards and dry erase markers.
We had two Mystery Letters today, letter F,f and letter E,e.
We also opened up the easel this afternoon during choice time! What fun!
Hope you had a great evening!
Love,
Mrs. Huettl
